Elsie Platt Robinson
On Friday evening, June 2, 2017, Elsie Platt Robinson, widow of the late David A. Robinson of Petersburg, Virginia, departed this life. Elsie was born on November 4, 1928 in Newport News, Virginia, the daughter of John M. Platt and Elsie Miller Platt. Although Elsie resided in Pennsylvania for the last 27
years of her life, she remained true to her Southern roots and was widely admired for her intelligence, sharp wit and southern hospitality.
She was a member of the Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, Greentown, Pennsylvania and remained steadfast in her faith all her life.
Elsie was preceded In passing by all of her eight brothers and sisters—Marjorie Platt Hering, John Platt, Emily Platt Aderholt, Sylvia Platt Cyckevic, William Platt, Henry Platt, Robert Platt and Sydney Platt Voda.
She is survived by a daughter, Valerie R. Schoeffling, two sons, David E. Robinson of Richmond, Virginia and Bryan A. Robinson of Brooklyn, New York and two loving grandchildren Zane Schoeffling and Scarlett Schoeffling. Elsie was a devoted mother and grandmother. No one who had the privilege of knowing Elsie will ever forget her.
She will be buried beside the love of her life in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia, the city where she married her sweetheart in 1951. Farewell fair lady from those who loved you so dearly. Rest in peace.
Rev. William B. Taylor, Jr. of St. John’s Episcopal Church will hold a graveside service at Blandford Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. All friends and family are invited to this service.
