Arline Murphy Saunders, 91, of Hopewell, VA passed away, Friday, October 13, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, William G. Murphy, and Rose Mae Whorley; her loving husband, Robert R. “Bobby” Saunders, Sr., and a son, Robert R. Saunders, Jr. She is survived by her children, Linda Saunders Long, Larry R. Saunders, Billie Saunders Glass (Bill), Teresa Saunders Manning (Allen); grandchildren, David Paden, Robert Paden (Patrice), Jennifer S. Wayda (Kenneth), Robert W. Saunders (Lisa), Jessica S. Lennon (John), Jason Godwin (Kendra), W. Sean Godwin, R. Dale Godwin (Kiersten), Lauren M. Saeler (Reid), Caitlen N. Manning; great-grandchildren, Ray, Kayla, Kamron, Joy, Jordan, Kayleigh, Bailee, Alyssa, Sean, Riley, Ella, Jake, Tessa, and Ethan; great-great-grandchild, Hazel Grace; as well as, numerous extended family and friends. Arline was a member of the Federated Womens Club, and a longtime member of the Hopewell Church of Christ. The family received friends, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 15, 2017 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral 820 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA. A graveside service was held, 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 16, 2017 at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. Edith Weston Jennings, 94 of Hopewell, VA passed away, Sunday, October 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. Weston, and Pearl Jackson Weston; her loving husband, Lewis Linwood Jennings, Sr.; and her two sons, Lewis Linwood Jennings, Jr.; and James Reginald Jennings. She is survived by her devoted grandchildren, Joey Jennings and Destiny Jennings; her great- grandchildren, Jason and Jacob Milton; a sister, Jerri Collier and husband, Hermon; as well as, numerous extended family and friends. Edith worked for many years as an Executive Secretary with Allied Chemical. After retirement she worked as a volunteer for more than 20 years at John Randolph Medical Center. Edith was an avid reader and a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hopewell. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2017 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway, Hopewell, VA 23860. Burial will follow in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
