Hopewell Welcomes New Finance Director

As the City is moving forward on hiring individuals to fill key vacant positions, on Friday Hopewell welcomed a new finance director.
Michael Terry officially took the job on Dec. 1 bringing about 35 years of experience in government accounting.
Interim City Manager Charles Dane said Terry will be a welcome addition to the government administration team with his level of expertise in the field and working with Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports.
Terry served as senior accounting consultant leading various Virginia Municipal League and Virginia Association of Counties Accounting Services engagements. He has over 30 years of accounting and finance experience including direct involvement in the preparation of Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports. He served as Finance Director for Isle of Wight County for five years; Deputy Director of Finance for the City of Richmond for three years; and Senior Manager for KPMG Consulting – Public Accounting, Washington, DC. Terry received a B.S. degree from Virginia Union University and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University.
