Charles W. Beville, Sr.
Charles W. Beville, Sr., of Enon, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2009.
"Charlie" enjoyed a long and fruitful life and has left us all with many fond memories. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Beville.
He is survived by his sons, Charles William Beville, Jr., (wife, Carol), and Richard Ninde Beville; and his daughter, Susan Beville Huffman (husband, Gary). His loving family members include his grandchildren, Christopher Beville, Catherine Beville Pado, Heather Huffman Hobick and Claudia Huffman Brennan; great grandchildren, Langley, Blagen and Keegan Pado, Claire and Conner Hobick, Zachary Jessup and Aiden Beville; and sister, Mary Frances Rainey (husband, Epes). During his most recent years, Charlie was well served by caregivers Lisa Pierce, Michelle Blackwell, Susan Mason, Shirley Hooks, Carrie Washington, Josephine Wilson, Lois Fairley and Erica Cooper, for whom the family is truly grateful.
His long-term residence in Enon earned him many devoted and loving friends and neighbors. He was a founding and charter member of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church, for many years serving as the church treasurer. Charlie enjoyed membership in the United Methodist Men. He was an avid bridge player and gardener and loved to travel. The family will be receiving friends at the Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2009, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. A reception in the fellowship hall of the church will immediately follow the service. A private interment service will be held in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg. The family has asked that donations be made to the Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church, 2025 Florence Ave., Chester, Va. 23836, in lieu of flowers. Zona Theresa Miller
Zona Theresa Miller, 54, of Hopewell, died Wednesday June 3, 2009 in Johnston Willis Medical Center. She was born in Hopewell, Va. and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 637 and the Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Irma Duffy Devine. Surviving are her husband, Samuel E. Miller; a son Robert E. Miller and wife Joy of Prince George; two daughters, Tonya M. James and husband Dohne and Sandra M. Garrett and husband David all of Hopewell; six grandchildren; a sister, Diane Whittmeyer of Chicago; her father, William Devine of Hopewell; six brothers, William Devine of Jacksonville, N.C., Thomas K. Devine of Prince George, Timothy Devine of Arlington, Va., Michael Devine of Chesterfield, Patrick Devine of Prince George, Harry Devine of Hopewell.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 5, 2009 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Hopewell Chapel with Rev. Wayne Rickman , pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating.
