Elizabeth Belcher Minshew
Elizabeth Belcher Minshew, 93, died January 26, 2010 in Brighter Living Assisted Living in Hopewell. She was born in City Point, Hopewell, VA. and has been a resident of Hopewell her entire life. Mrs. Minshew was co-owner of Minshew’s Jewelers, Hopewell, VA for 30 years before retiring. She graduated from Hopewell High School in June 1933; from Petersburg Commercial College May 21, 1934 and was a member of Red Cross Home Nursing. She held one of the longest continuous memberships at First United Methodist Church, joining the church in January of 1928. She was a charter member of the Old Circle 8 Church Circle at United Methodist Church which was established in 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Elizabeth Merrell Belcher and her husband, Daniel B. Minshew. Mrs. Minshew is survived by her sister Helen Belcher Livingston, of Chester, VA, her son, Daniel Minshew and wife Judy of Lake Butler, Fl; her son Charles Minshew and wife June of Chester, VA ; her two grandchildren Kimberly Minshew Davis and her husband Robert of Lake Butler, Fl., Tina Minshew of Stafford, VA, three step-grandchildren, Mike Roddy and his wife Margie of Colonial Heights,VA, Ray Roddy and his wife Jessica of Kents Store, VA. and Anthony Roddy of Richmond,and one great-grandchild, Jessica Roddy, daughter of Mike and Margie Roddy.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:30 -8:30, January 28 , 2010 in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 29, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church P. O.
