Bolling Staunton “Stoney” Partin Sr.
Bolling Staunton “Stoney” Partin Sr., 84, of Hopewell, died Saturday,
Jan. 20, 2010 in Hopewell Healthcare Center. he was a life-long
resident of Hopewell. Mr. Partin was a member of First United
Methodist, the owner of Partin Oil Company and member of Chester
Masonic Lodge #94. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II,
established the State Militia of Viginia, obtaining rank of General,
served as company commander at local Company E of Hopewell and retired
as Lt. Col. in the National Guard.
Mr. Partin was preceeded in death by his parents, Bolling William and
Frances Walden Partin; his sisters Frances Nicholson and Sandra
Partin; a brother Beverly Partin and brother-in-law, William E. Hatch.
Surviving are his wife, June Collins of Hopewell; three sons, Bolling
S. “Bo” Partin, Jr. and wife Susan of Enon, Richard N. Partin and wife
Robin of Henrico and John B. Partin and wife Cindy of Enon; six
grandchildren, Bolling III, Nathan, Stephen, Seth, Johnny and Allison;
a sister Ann P. Hatch of Burrowsville; sister-in-law, Arline Partin
and a brother-in-law “Nick” Nicholson, both of Hopewell.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at
the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral
service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the funeral
home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Michael Browder, pastor of First United
Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox
Cemetery, with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to
First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 636, Hopewell, Va. 23860.
