Nora W. Richardson
Nora W. Richardson, 85, of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Cyril Richardson, two brothers; George and Eric Heard. She is survived by two daughters; Phyllis Hood and her husband Wayne, and Doreen Richardson.
Mrs. Richardson, along with her husband, were the owners and operator of their wholesale business for many years, where she was also the bookkeeper. Mrs. Richardson was a member of Saint John’s Episcopal Church for many years where she was a member of Saint Martha’s Guild. She was also a member of the Trans Atlantic Brides and Parents Association, and the Hopewell Twinning Association.
All friends are welcome to Nora’s Farewell at her house on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 3PM to 6PM.

Edna C. Hudson Furr
Edna C. Hudson Furr, 79, of Hopewell passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at John Randolph Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Julius and Nancy Ann Hudson; husband, Ira Clyde Furr and a son, Dennis Wayne Furr. Edna lived her life always putting others before herself. She was a member of Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served in positions such as Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, and Deaconess. Edna is survived by her daughter, Doris Furr Gilliland; granddaughter, Tiffany Archer and husband, Brandon; great grandchildren, Wendy Archer, Chad Archer, and Carly Archer; sister, Dorothy Gayle Slade; brother, Julius R. Hudson, Sr. and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Bermuda Memorial Park. Sandor (Sandy) Meri
Sandor (Sandy) Meri, 67, of Hopewell died February 7, 2010. Sandy was born in Gyorzamoly, Hungary in March, 1942. He came to the United States in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. He was 14 years old. Sandy became a citizen in 1967. He served proudly for 20 Years in the US Army, serving two tours in Vietnam, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 284 in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He was a faithful and cheerful volunteer at the McGuire VA Hospital for over 20 Years.
Sandy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judith Meri. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a brother, Janos Meri of Hungary. Several nieces and nephews; Janos Meri, Jr. and Csabo Meri, Hungary, Doris Mery, Switzerland, Giuseppe Salnitri, Italy, Mark Edwards and Jason Edwards, Clinton, NC, and Selena Crumpler, Topsail Island, NC. The family will receive friends from 3PM to 5PM Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with a service to follow at 5 PM. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Fisher House at McGuire VA Hospital, 1201 Broad Rock Blvd. Richmond, VA 23249, or to your favorite charity. Sandy’s laughter, his love of life, and his fun loving spirit will be missed by his family and friends.
