Friday night was full of surprises at southside  speedway beginning with the surprise visit from NASCAR great Bobby Allison, the late model  race was named after his long time friend Robbie Robertson and he wanted to surprise him at his party at the track, Robbie Robertson was a longtime regular at southside speedway doing several jobs at the track, he most recently was the pace car driver at the track, Friday night he also gave the ‘drivers start your engines’ order and went on the track with bobby Allison to lead several parade laps with the full field of late models ready to start the Robbie Robertson 150.

Enon driver Shayne Lockhart started on front row after having the fastest qualifying lap and held the lead until the last lap in last turn when Eddie Johnson pulled ahead to take the checkered flag on lap 152 during the green-white-checkered finish of the race, the green-white-checkered was caused by a caution on lap 146 when points leader Chris Dodson and Chris Hopkins who were running 3rd and 4th place most of the race got together and Dodson was spun, this moved them to the rear of the lead lap cars for the last restart of the night, the race win was given to Shayne Lockhart when Eddie Johnson was disqualified in the post race inspection, the win moved him from 8th to 3rd in the points race for track late model championship 2010.

Prince George drivers Jeff Oakley and Steve Zuskin had strong showings with  a 3rd and 4th place finish, Steve Zuskin ran in top 10 all night even with all the cautions and double file restarts keeping the race drivers close together.

Jeff Oakley had a strong car which had went to the rear of the field on lap 64 when he got in accident with Brandon Hendricks on the backstretch, Jeff Oakley then went picking off drivers one by one until he got up to 3rd place in the last restart of the night. Jeff Oakley was able to gain 3 spots in the point’s race and Steve Zuskin gained 4 spots

.

The late model cars will be back at Southside speedway on June 18th with a 75 lap double point’s race.
