• Dollar General Store robbed at gunpoint

On January 23, 2011 at approximately 8:20am, officers responded to the Dollar General Store located in the 3500 block of Oaklawn Blvd. for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred. The investigation revealed that the lone offender entered the business, brandished a dark-colored handgun and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of currency prior to fleeing the business on foot. A K-9 track was conducted; however, the offender was unable to be located. No persons were harmed during the incident.
The offender is described as a black male, 5'9"- 5'11", 160-180 pounds, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a light in color full-face covering, a light-green in color patterned hooded jacket over a black t-shirt, grey in color sweatpants, dark in color sneakers and gloves. The offender also was observed in possession of a dark-colored handgun and a beige in color handbag.
The Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter and is requesting that any person(s) who may have been traveling in and around the area of this incident and observed any suspicious person(s) matching the above description contact lead Detective Keith Krueger of the Hopewell Police Department at (804) 541-2284.
