No injuries resulted from an apartment fire that broke out in Colonial Heights early Wednesday morning although the residents of the building have been displaced.

The fire department responded to a 12:17 a.m. call reporting the fire at Apt. 64 in the Colonial Court Apartments off Westover Street. By 12:45 a.m., Colonial Heights and Chesterfield fire fighters had the blaze under control.

One apartment sustained fire damage, while the two other apartments in the building were damaged by smoke and water.

The two individuals who lived in the apartment where the fire started were not home at the time of the incident.

Deputy Fire Marshal J.E. Boisseau said the Red Cross was contacted to assist the building’s residents, but said he believed they were staying with family and friends in the area.

The cause remains under investigation.
