Almost a year after the Bank of America on City Point road was robbed, an arrest has been made in the case.
Salvatore Manuel Jr., a Chesterfield resident, was taken into custody last Friday.
The investigation of the armed robbery, which occurred at 9:25 a.m. on Oct. 31, 2011, indicated that the offender entered the bank and brandished a weapon before demanding an undisclosed amount of currency.
No one was hurt, and the offender left the bank on foot after receiving the money.
The Hopewell Police Department worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to identify and apprehend Manuel, who has been charged with Federal Bank Robbery and is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshall’s Service.
“This is an excellent example of interagency cooperation that has led to a violent criminal being taken off the streets,” said Hopewell Police Chief John Keohane in a statement.
