Police had the intersection around Miles Ave. and Boston St. in Hopewell blocked off with police cruisers, orange cones and caution tape on Friday to conduct a follow-up investigation to an accident that took place on Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Hopewell Police Lt. Damon Stoker said that the Thursday accident involved two cars. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals, one with injuries that were serious, Stoker said.
“For a serious injury case, we’ll normally have someone go out and take a second look at the intersection,” Stoker said, explaining the street closure and the men with measuring tapes that could be seen on the street on Friday.
He said the men taking measurements were police officers with specialized training in crash investigations.
He said that the investigation of the accident has not yielded any evidence of excessive speed or drug or alcohol use.
