A pair of over-prescription shooting glasses are currently in the mail and on their way to a customer in Virginia.
The shooting glasses are notable because they were the first item shipped from the new, 1.1 million square foot Amazon Fulfillment Center in Chester. The package left the facility in Meadowville Technology Park late Wednesday.
The news came fast on the heels of last week’s announcement that the new Amazon Fulfillment Center in Dinwiddie County shipped its first item, a crock pot, to a customer in Michigan on Sept. 26.
The Chesterfield center broke ground in January and spent the summer hiring the the approximately 750 employees who now work there. The the company expects to hire seasonal employees as they ramp up operations for the holiday season.
The Dinwiddie facility, which employs approximately 250 people, is also expecting to hire more seasonal employees in the coming months.
The fulfillment centers ship orders of items that run the gamut from auto parts and electronics to office supplies and books.
