Suspect (s) sought in string of vehicle vandalism

The Hopewell Police Department continues to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public in identifying the individual(s) responsible for a string of vandalisms that occurred during the evening hours of New Year’s Eve. 

On Jan.1, 2013, at 6:01am, officers began to respond to calls for service in the 2200-2300 blocks of Jackson St., Lee St., Gordon St., Johnson St., Grant St. and Pickett St. for multiple reports of vandalism to vehicles. The investigation revealed that between 9:00 p.m. Dec. 31, 2012 and 6:00 a.m. Jan. 1, 2013, 19 vehicles were vandalized, resulting in a total estimated loss exceeding $6,000.

 “We are requesting assistance from anyone who knows those responsible for this rash of senseless property damage and asking them to come forward” said Chief John Keohane.

 The Hopewell Police Department is requesting that any person(s) who may know the identity of the suspects or may have been traveling in and around the area at the time of the incidents, contact the Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit at (804) 541-2284. Additionally, any person(s) who have information on this or any other crime occurring in the City of Hopewell may contact the Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at 541-2202. You can also text-a-tip anonymously. Simply add “274637 (CRIMES)” to your Contacts list on your cellular phone and then text “igotcha” along with your message/tip. You will then be provided an ID number that you will use when checking the status of your tip or picking up your reward.
