Arrest made in armed robbery of Red Barn Food Store

On January 5, 2013 at 4:20 pm, the Red Barn Food Store was robbed at gunpoint.

A male suspect armed with a revolver style handgun, entered the business, threatened an employee, and demanded money. The suspect removed an undisclosed amount of money from the business and fled on foot in the direction of Terminal St. The employees were not injured during the robbery.

On January 8, 2013 after an intensive investigation, a male juvenile, age 14 of Hopewell, was arrested and charged with Robbery, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He is currently being held in the Crater Juvenile Detention center.

“Again, cooperation from our citizens was vital in apprehending a violent suspect; we will continue to nurture the relationship between this department and the residents of this city,” said Lieutenant Damon Stoker.

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter and is requesting that any person(s) who may have been traveling in and around the area of this incident and observed any suspicious person(s) matching the above description contact lead Detective N. Nelson at (804) 541-2284. Any person(s) who have information on wanted persons or any crime occurring in the City of Hopewell may contact the Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at 541-2202.
