A soldier who was stationed at Fort Lee has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison Monday for sex crimes.
Phillip Steven Locker, 27, of Petersburg, was sentenced in Spotsylvania Circuit Court to five years in prison with three years and six months suspended for attempted indecent liberties, and he was sentenced to 10 years with eight suspended for electronic solicitation, according to online court records. He must also pay $840 in court costs.
Locker pleaded guilty July 16. The offense happened July 2, 2012, according to court records.
Locker, who had the rank of corporal, was a shower, laundry and clothing repair specialist assigned to the 108th Quartermaster Company, 530th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion at Fort Lee.
He was indicted by a grand jury on April 15 and arrested April 19.
A special unit of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office spent months quietly working to identify ”internet predators who were stalking children in web chat rooms and other sites for the purpose of luring the victims into lewd encounters and worse,” according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office after his arrest.
Detectives have brought charges against seven suspects and plan to charge others with crimes ranging from distribution of child pornography to felony use of a communication device to commit certain offenses.
The Sheriff’s Office said their charges are related to their online actions aimed at who they thought were underage children in Spotsylvania County.
