Soup’s on at Boulevard Flower Gardens

JAMES PEACEMAKER JR./HOPEWELL NEWS/NEWS-PATRIOT Hundreds of people came out to the Boulevard Flower Gardens on Sunday for the Souper Bowl II fundraiser.

CHESTERFIELD — The cold weather was perfect for hot soup on Sunday as hundreds of people came out to Souper Bowl II in the greenhouse at Boulevard Flower Gardens, north of Colonial Heights.

Numerous restaurants offered soups at the fundraiser to benefit Central Virginia Legal Aid Society and Rebuilding Together*Tri-Cities.

They included The Bistro at Market and Grove, Brew Gastropub, The Brickhouse Run, Brock’s Bar-B-Que, Chad Thompson of Butler’s Unique Catering, Demolition Coffee, Divine Restaurant, Dixie Restaurant, Garden Cafe at Boulevard Flower Gardens, Hopewell Quick Lunch, Mo’s, Mr. B’s 15th Street Cafe, Neptune’s Land and Sea, Saucy’s Walk-Up BBQ, Stone’s Diner and Catering, Swift Creek Mill Theatre and Restaurant, Tilted Kilt Pub and Wabi Sabi.

People danced to the music of the Hullabaloos, a British cover band while children’s activities were offered by the Children’s Museum of Richmond.

Judges Choice awards for best soup were Wabi-Sabi, first place; Saucy’s Walk-Up, second place, and Brew Gastropub, third place.

People’s Choice Awards went to Wabi-Sabi, first place; Bistro at Market and Grove, second place; and Mo’s, third place.
