18-year-old shot in Hopewell

HOPEWELL -- Police are searching for suspects after an 18-year-old man was shot Friday night.
At 7:21 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of South Sixth Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the 18-year-old victim from Hopewell who suffered a serious injury to the abdomen. The victim was flown by helicopter to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond.
Police are searching for a burgundy, mid-1980s-model, four-door vehicle that was occupied by four black males. The driver was described as being in his mid-20s and was wearing gold-rimmed glasses.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and following up on leads involving the shooting.
