Crash kills 2 on I-295

PRINCE GEORGE — Two people were killed Saturday night in a crash on Interstate 295 involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle.
At approximately 7:54 p.m., state police were called to the scene on I-295 South, north of the Interstate 95 interchange in Prince George County.
Virginia State Police say the crash occurred when a 1999 Volvo collided with a 2001 Kenworth tractor-trailer.
The driver of the Volvo suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was flown to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond. An adult male and an adult female passenger both died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash. The identities of the deceased are pending notification of next of kin.
The crash shut down all lanes of Interstate 295 South. They were re-opened at approximately 12:45 a.m. Sunday.
