Elderly woman robbed after bank trip

Investigators involved in the case have released an image of the vehicle that they believe to be used in relation to this crime.
COLONIAL HEIGHTS Police are investigating the robbery of an elderly woman in Colonial Heights, whose valuables were stolen from her outside of her residence last Thursday, according to Sgt. Rob Ruxer with the Colonial Heights Police Department.

After returning to her residence on the 400 block of Norwood Drive from a visit to the Virginia Commonwealth Bank, the victim was approached by a man who demanded that she hand over her money and belongings on the afternoon of May 1, Ruxer said.

The victim handed over her items, after which the robber ran to what was described as a small, black, four-door car driven by another black male, before it drove away in an unknown direction, Ruxer said.

Ruxer said that the robber was characterized as approximately five feet, five inches tall, and heavyset with a dark complexion, and that no clothing description was given.

Authorities said that no arrests have been made regarding the incident and the police department is following up on any leads they have.
