April and Alex from Colonial Heights are shown in a clip from the TLC hit series “Sex Sent Me to the ER.” The episode airs Saturday.
COLONIAL HEIGHTS — A couple from Colonial Heights will be featured on a reality show this weekend for a sexual experience that sent them to the emergency room.
April and Alex will appear on Saturday’s episode of the TLC hit series “Sex Sent Me to the ER,” as they share their story of why couples should follow doctors’ advice and wait until six weeks after childbirth before having intimate relations.
Back when they were newlywed teenagers, April and Alex decided not to wait as long as the doctor told them to have sex following the birth of their child, and when April began to feel numbness throughout her body and lost the ability to perform simple tasks like writing her name, the couple sought out emergency medical care.
As the episode unravels, doctors discover that April had a serious medical condition and the health risks of their premature intimacy were much greater than they originally imagined.
The episode will be aired on Saturday, June 28, on TLC at 9 p.m.
