Kenneth Bertram Keener Sr., 95, of Hopewell, passed away on Friday July 14, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. Keener Sr. and Frances Robinson Keener; his wife, Leona Coleman Keener; sister, Beverly Doeg; and brother, Wallace Keener. Kenneth was a strong Christian man and a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Hopewell. He served his country proudly in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Kenneth was an avid golfer and also loved playing cards and games. He is survived by his children, Linda D. Keener; Kenneth B. Keener, Jr. and his wife, Janice; Donna K. Stewart and her husband, Jay; and Larry D. Keener and his wife, Robbin; grandchildren, Mark A. Callas, Lisa J. Keener, Lanaya K. Botbyl, Scott C. Keener, Kristy K. O’Connell, Richard T. Chavis, Rebecca I. Patterson, Andrew T. Chavis, N. Shay Stewart (who was also his primary caregiver for the last five years), Gina R. Stewart, Lauren D. Woodward and Caroline A. Keener; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William T. Keener, Jr. and Johnny Keener; and two sisters, Elsie Kanak and Carol Birkett. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 21st at First Christian Church, 203 North 11th Ave, Hopewell, 23860 with a reception to follow at the Church. Inurnment will take place in Appomattox Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Fund at First Christian Church. Lois Spielman Bryant, 89, of Hopewell, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Jesse T. and Stella Bowden Spielman and the widow of Northam E. Bryant. Lois was raised in Nebraska and moved to Virginia to attend Richmond Polytechnic Institute, now VCU. She is survived by her children, Terri Bryant (Donna), Kathleen Bryant Vincent, Kevin Bryant (Kitty), Tamara Bryant Phillips (Terry), and Paula Bryant Vick (Larry); grandchildren Bryant Phillips (Kristin), B.J. Vincent, Jack Bryant, Peter Bryant, Andrew Bryant, Sarah Vick and Natalie Vick; two great grandchildren, Carter Phillips and Charlotte Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews. Two of her twelve siblings, Elaine Barnes and Norma Fishburn, survive. She was a member of the Federated Women’s Club and spent her time volunteering at the Hopewell Public Library. She was also a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church, 1107 W. Larry Steven Narron of Hopewell passed away on July 7, 2017. He was born on May 22,1947 in Hopewell. He was in the Air Force for a short time. He is survived by his daughters of Mooresville, Aimee Rash (Jamie), Caree Mooe (David), sister Peggy Hardin, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-children,exwife and friend Joy Kiser, and devoted friend Walter Saqura who was always therre when needed. Also his beloved dog Tank. Many loving friends who could always count on him to cheer them up; who will love and miss him. Memorial willl be private.
