COLONIAL HEIGHTS — An SUV crashed into a power box outside of the Colonial Heights Courthouse at approximately noon on Wednesday, after which the driver was transported by EMS responders to receive medical treatment, according to the Colonial Heights Police Department.
The collision caused the main power to go out within the courthouse, however the facility was able to run off of auxiliary power and court cases continued as scheduled, authorities said.
Dominion Power officials arrived on scene to restore power, which was scheduled to be restored by Wednesday evening, police said.
Pictures from the police department revealed that the power box was dented in, and authorities reported that Dominion, with the help of the Colonial Heights Fire Department, had to use the “jaws of life” to gain access to the transformer to make proper replacements.
