Man gets 18 months for child porn

A Chesterfield man will serve 18 months in prison after child pornography was found on a game system he sold.
James Brent Phillips, 25, of 6108 River Road in southern Chesterfield, pleaded guilty to multiple felony counts of the possession of child pornography in both Chesterfield and Colonial Heights, according to court records.
Originally charged with a total of eight charges after he sold a video gaming system at a Play Ní Trade in Colonial Heights, Phillips pleaded guilty to four felony offenses that occurred between 2007 and 2008, court documents indicated.
Phillips pleaded guilty to two counts in Chesterfield Circuit Court on May 22 and pleaded guilty to two counts in Colonial Heights Circuit Court on June 24.
Four of Phillipís six charges in Chesterfield were dismissed as part of his plea agreement.
He was sentenced in Chesterfield to three years imprisonment with one year, six months suspended, and he was sentenced in Colonial Heights to three years imprisonment with three years suspended. His sentence suspensions remain in effect for a period of 10 years.
As part of his two plea agreements, Phillips will be placed on supervised probation upon his release, undergo a sex offender evaluation, have his name listed in the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, pay any additional court costs, pay $400 in restitution to the Virginia Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund, forfeit both his laptop and Sony Playstation 3, get credit for any time served and keep the peace, according to court records.
