Police seek man in attempted robbery

HOPEWELL -- Police are looking for man who tried to rob someone on River Road just west of Crystal Lake.
On Friday, July 11, 2014 at approximately 6:54 a.m., a city resident was walking in the 3800 block of River Road when he was approached by a man who demanded money and personal property. No weapon was displayed but the robber implied that he was armed by placing his hands into his waistband and threatening the victim. The offender did not receive any items or money prior to leaving from the area.
The robber was described as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, approximately 155 to 160 pounds, small to medium build, dirty blonde shoulder length hair, wearing a gray Army T-shirt, unknown color shorts and a tan ball cap. The robber was last seen leaving the area driving a silver or grey late '90s or early 2000s model Pontiac Grand AM or Grand Prix. No license plate number was obtained.
The Hopewell Police Departmentís Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter.
