Kathryn Mary Woodward, 60, of Hopewell, VA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Cleveland Woodward, Sr. and Eleanor Ruth Hyman Woodward. She was a member of Calvary’s Love Ministries. She also spent many years helping with SuperKids at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church. She is survived by her son, Michael Lee McComber; grandson, Nicholas McComber; brothers, Robert “R.C.” Woodward, Jr., Mark Woodward; sister, Sue W. Robertson and husband John; loving nephews, Gregg and Jeff Ingram; among other special nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends. Interment will be private. John LaVelle Head, 90, of Prince George, VA, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017. Born in Sikes, LA. he was the son of the late, John Wiley and Jessie Mae Head; and was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. John was retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service and was also retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. A devoted Freemason, John was recently awarded the prestigious 60 year Masonic Veteran Award. He was a member and Past Master of Prince George Lodge No. 115, member and Past Master of Petersburg Lodge No. 15, member of Dupont Lodge No. 289, and Past Master of Charles T. Morton Lodge No. 232. He served as District Deputy Grand Master for the 29th Masonic District in 1986. John was also a member of Petersburg Union Royal Arch Chapter No. 7, Appomattox Commandery No. 6, a life-time member of the Hopewell Shriners Club, and a member of the American Legion Post 126. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Amy Ray Head; a daughter, Becky Hopkins and husband, Trae; two grandchildren, Shawn Michael Grant and Alexaundra Star Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Bruce Catron, officiating. Interment with military and masonic rites will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Kump, David Allen Sr., of Providence Forge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9th, 2017.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce S. Kump.   He is survived by his children, David, Jr. and his partner, Ruth Craig of Chester, Julia Klotz and her husband, Chris of Henrico, and Kim Gracik of Tallahassee, Florida.   In addition to his children he is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephen M. Gracik, David Klotz and Sarah Klotz, along with his special friend, Virginia Baker. David began working for VEPCO in Hopewell after his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was promoted to Field Manager in New Kent County and retired from Dominion Power with over 40 years of service. David enjoyed dancing, gardening, travelling, and spending time with his friends and family. David was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church in Hopewell, where a funeral mass will be held on Wednesday morning, August 16th at 11:00am, followed by interment at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell. Family and friends will share in a visitation at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Hopewell on Tuesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
