Single car crash kills Hopewell man A single vehicle crash Sunday killed a 44-year-old Hopewell man. The crash occurred around 6:30 Sunday evening in the 14000 block of Pole Run Road, near Hines Road, in Prince George County.

City Council tours BRAC expansion Even with the construction of a $114 million 1,000-room lodging facility at Fort Lee, the demand for off-post lodging will increase, said Fort Lee Garrison Commander Col. Mike Morrow during a tour of the installation with Hopewell officials. The number of temporary duty (TDY) soldiers is expected to increase from a 996 in 2008 to 2,300 in 2011. The currently on-post capacity is 517.

All area schools meet SOL standards The Virginia Department of Education released its list of schools meeting the Standards of Learning and 98 percent — 1,826 of Virginia’s 1,867 schools — are fully accredited. Ordnance center officially at Fort Lee The United States Army Ordnance Center and School officially transferred to Fort Lee Sept. 11. The school formally uncased its colors and raised its flag that afternoon at the Sustainment Center of Excellence. Head Start fills up quickly Friday morning, 172 three and four year olds eagerly headed to the Woodlawn Learning Center for orientation day. Elsewhere in the city, 64 students were able to attend.
