City, county folks debate on debate winner, loser
- Jan 4, 2005
Hopewell and Prince George voters who watched last night's presidential debate have opinions as different as those of the candidates and their campaigns on who won or lost points in the televised event.
Hopewell Democratic Committee Chairman Steve Taylor said this morning that in his opinion, neither candidate landed a knockout blow, and both candidates missed opportunities to score off the other.
"During one exchange, I think Kerry managed to knock Bush off his poise a little, when he talked about the difference between bin Laden and Saddam," said Taylor. "But Bush made some strong points about leaders letting the world know where they stand, and Kerry was a bit on the defensive on his different positions on the war in Iraq."
