Mrs. Evelyn Marks Wells
Mrs. Evelyn Marks Wells, 96, widow of John M. Wells, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. J. Morgan Wells Jr. and wife, Wendy, of North, Va., and Barry Marks Wells of Roanoke; five granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; one brother Benjamin F. Marks of Hopewell; one sister, Elizabeth M. Anderson of Yuma, Ariz.
She was born in Prince George County, the daughter of William H. Marks Sr. and Helen Figg Marks.
The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 14, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn Regina Crawford Whitt
Carolyn Regina Crawford Whitt, age 66, of McKenney, formerly of Hopewell, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 9, 2007.
She was employed by Dinwiddie County Voter Registration Office and retired from Hopewell Fire Department.
She was a member of Dinwiddie Church of the Nazarene.
In compliance and accord with the Biblical promise “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord,” Carol laid aside her earthly abode to enter eternal rest through her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
She was born July 19, 1941 in Elkins, W.Va. to Edward Lee and Mary Christina Crawford.
Saved at a young age, her life was forever redirected to serve her beloved Savior and encourage others into eternal salvation, freely offered to all who choose to believe.
She leaves behind her beloved sons, Mike and wife, Deba; Troy and wife, Judi; and Todd; her beloved daughter, Missy and husband, Gilbert; her grandchildren, Christopher, Amber, Chat, Caitlyn, Kiersten, Jon, Dalton, Hunter and Landon Whitt, Alexis and Aubree Carrasquillo; her beloved brothers, Gary Crawford and wife; Yvonne of Smoot, W.Va.; and Leonard Crawford and wife, Dolly of Santee, S.C.; her beloved sister, Martha Sars and husband, John of Cookeville, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was known by most as “Gram,” given to her by her grandchildren, but she was also a mother, sister, daughter and friend and will be missed. “Well done good and faithful servant.”
The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 am with the Rev. Richard Guizar and the Rev. Loren Million officiating.
Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George.
