Lauren Vinson was very convincing Wednesday.
She pitched 10 innings, won two games — both of which were no-hitters.
First came Petersburg, which arrived about an hour late. She allowed only one base runner in that game, a wild-pitch strikeout put the lone runner on. She was later erased attempting to steal second.
Vinson, a sophomore, struck out 11.
PG got two runs in the first inning, one scoring on a wild pitch; the other on a single by Vinson. Final score was 10-0.
In the fourth, PG erupted for seven runs, three coming on a home run by Taylor Worley and two more on Caitlen Manning's four-base blow.
Manning also chased home the deciding run in the fifth, scoring Worley, who had singled.
Manning also turned in a great defensive play in the fourth inning, diving to near third base to spear a shot that had base hit written on it, Kelley Skalsky made a diving catch in right field in he first inning.
In the second game, Vinson fanned 13 in notching an 11-0. She allowed one hit batter to reach base; a walk took care of the other.
The Lady Royals in district, exploded for five runs in the first and three more in the second. Three in the fourth helped close it out early.
Ashley Lowe was 3-for-3 with a run and three RBIs; Manning 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs; Vinson 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs; Worley 2 runs and two hits; Maggie Roberts and Adain O'Hare a hit each against Hopewell.
